WE BELIEVE - Musically Immersed Passion Play 2026 Brief Synopsis:

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

- John 3:16

Believing in Christ - His death and resurrection - is at the core of our faith. To truly BELIEVE we need to put our full trust on God, and this is how we receive Jesus’ gift of salvation. The unwavering belief that Jesus’ apostles and followers would have had to have 2000 years ago is what gives us all the strength to believe today!

In WE BELIEVE, our musically immersed Passion Play, we give life to the voices of those who were there and lived the story of the Passion of Christ - who kept the truth of his life, death and resurrection living on. These men and women had the strength and courage to keep telling His stories under extreme ridicule and persecution. Christ’s crucifixion, burial and resurrection is the fulfillment of our salvation story and these faithful people were there to witness Christ’s words, “It is finished!” (John 19:30). These words would have truly spoken to the love and power of Jesus and they continue to speak to every Catholic today - 2000 years later.

WE BELIEVE starts after the Crucifiction, when Rome and the High Priests were trying to quiet the followers of Christ. From the perspective of these witnesses of Jesus’ ministry and life we begin to map out the origins and staying power of our faith - a faith filled with salvation and love. We witness the power of his healing, the depths of his love, the cost of that love when he is nailed to the cross and the imprint that he left on the world.

Storytelling is at the forefront of this play, with witnesses and followers who will take us back in a flashback style to Jesus’ journey to the cross and His everlasting life. With a truly ensemble feel, the audience will feel like they are witnessing what it means to say “I am a follower”. Scenery, lighting and projection will also emphasize the words coming to life, with visuals of the spread of Christianity being visible. Music and lyrics will be used when words alone can no longer tell the story or portray the emotion. Dancers will be incorporated in moments of emotion and scenery shifts.

A profound story, in fact, the greatest story ever told, this journey through Passion Play, will ultimately lead you closer to Jesus - profoundly human and God. It will give us the strength to truly say - WE BELIEVE!

Tickets are $25 each. There will be a 20 minute intermission. The Passion Play is not appropriate for children under the age of 7. Babes in arms are not allowed and all audience members must have a ticket.

This Passion Play is based on many of the true stories that are found in the Gospels of Jesus Christ. Some characters and dialogue have been added and embellished for storytelling purposes and creative license. Timelines are meant to be fluid and not factual. Any of the artistic creation is added to support the truth and intention of the scriptures themselves.

How did you like the event?

When you think that nothing can compare to last year’s This is Jesus, along comes, We Believe. What is different and which one in better. The only thing I can think of is the Parishoners are gaining more confidence in their stage performance. The writing is always professional, the music can only be compared to something you would see in a Musical in Toronto. The costumes, perfect, Jesus’ role, perfect, music, perfect, set decorations perfect. 3 shows next

How did you like the event?

Everything was great, and I appreciate all the time and talent and hard work from so many members and volunteers involved. Perhaps less musical solos - the male singer has an incredible voice, but the play is about Jesus, and sometimes it felt like a “show”/concert. (Also, I don’t think he needed to sing on stage - it felt awkward - maybe one song is ok, but not two). The choir was beautiful as collective singing. Jesus and the cast were incredible!

Very nicely presented with great stage props and special effects. 👍🏻 Really made you feel like you were there for the passion, crucifixion, and ascension. This was well worth the money spent.  Thank you for another amazing production. We are so very blessed to have such a talented and dedicated group of performers at our parish. I will support this event every year. If I may make one very minor suggestion to perhaps shorten the length of the show. Loved it and a thousand times.., thank you

How did you like the event?

First time to witness in person, Kudos to the actors and directors. It's good that they use only sound effects and didn't show how Jesus was beaten to death. But, it didn't lessen the aches I felt. Congratulations.
