The Naked Truth

(Aug 16 - 25, 2024)

Event Flyer

The Naked Truth is an award-winning, light comedy with depth, a sex comedy with more than sex on its mind. When a couple from Ohio inherits a clothing-optional resort in Key West, they discover parts of themselves never before exposed! The staff includes a gay front desk clerk who’s an aspiring drag queen and a lesbian handyman who moonlights as a dominatrix. And then there’s the potential buyer of the hotel, a businessman who likes giving women the business.

Overwhelmed by the lifestyles of the resort’s staff and guests, the couple is forced to face questions of what they believe and who they really are. Show Business Weekly wrote, “The greatest strength of THE NAKED TRUTH is its ability to explore actual topics of substance, from sex roles in society to social roles in marriage, in a buoyant comedic framework.”

How did you like the event?

Next season I will review the contents of each and every show. I was very disappointed in this production. Not sure if I will purchase season tickets next time. The people who pick the shows need to reconsider some of their choices. I didn't stay past intermission. I loved most of the other shows. Catch 22 was a disappointment - more like a high school play.

How did you like the event?

The entertaining show was an eyebrow-raising farce which explored the sexual “fringes” in 5 comedic stereotypical characters. Laugh out loud and thought provoking. Andrew Yoder, once again, shines!

The actors were phenomenal. I was so impressed with the entire show. I wish I had seen it sooner and that I could have invited everyone I know to see it! Such a good message and the world needs to see this. Highly impressed!

How did you like the event?

Let me preempted this by saying I didn't look up when the story was written, but I thought the story line antiquated. You would be hard pressed to find any Gen X that have the feelings portrayed in the play. I would love to see more plays with current views!

How did you like the event?

It was a huge disappointment. The disclaimer was eyewash. The play was offensive on so many levels, most of which was the attitude of "my way is the only way or you're a prig". there was absolutely no attempt to present a balanced interpretation of the gay/trans lifestyle. We were embarrassed as we had told our friend how much we've enjoyed previous plays that she joined us. We all left at the intermission

I prefer you do the musicals. It was billed a a comedy but I didn't hear anyone laughing. Including myself and my party. Looking forward to the next production.

How did you like the event?

We enjoyed the play. The cast was excellent. The story was a depiction of Key West from one perspective. The underlying tone was political. The theater could use a good cleaning and maybe offer some drinks. Good job for a small community theater.

How did you like the event?

Disappointment - play description should have stated it had an LGBTQ theme, instead of us reading a small sign when we checked in saying “sexual innuendos, alternative lifestyle, language”. Constant gay innuendo punch lines got old after the first 15 min, along with demeaning heterosexuality. Left at intermission, wasn’t funny, offensive to all. Not sure I’ll buy future Stagecrafter tickets, especially without researching playwright first!

How did you like the event?

A very cute show with a fantastic message hidden under some delectably scandalous dialog. I hope this is a new trend for Stage Crafters getting away from all of the dreary murders and exploring some new contemporary shows.

How did you like the event?

We knew when we purchased tickets that the plot was about a strait laced couple that surprisingly inherited a clothing optional resort…. That could be hilarious…. Other life style innuendos were ok… but when they spoke about catholic choir boys being picked up…. That was crossing a forbidden line. I’m sorry but that is NOT ACCEPTABLE. We will not attend another stagecraft event and sadly cannot recommend them to friends and family now

How did you like the event?

Delightful romp through social mores and sexuality, set in a clothing optional Key West resort! The cast of just 5 did a wonderful job inhabiting the personalities of their characters and demonstrating excellent comedic timing. The exploration of the way marriages can lead us to suppress our true selves could have leant a heavier tone, but did not due to the open communication between husband and wife in the script. A very enjoyable evening, please go see it!
