The Lincolns of Springfield
The Love Story We Never Knew

Directed by Four Time Tony Winner, Corey Brunish

Starring Matthew Patrick Davis, Deborah Robin, Mary Millben

October 12 through October 23

The Lincolns of Springfield chronicles the incredible story of America’s greatest  President and his much loved wife, from their first meeting through the end of the Civil War. As a very young girl, little Mary Todd declared to anyone who would listen, that when she grew up she would marry a President and live in the White House! The audience is led down the highly improbable, yet entirely truthful, humorous and delightfully romantic path that leads to the courtship and marriage of the most unlikely of couples, the young Abe Lincoln and Mary Todd—America’s first power couple—and the fulfillment of Mary’s prediction.

"Spectacular, uplifting music in the grand style of a Rodgers and Hammerstein or Lerner and Loewe Musical - Chris Daniels- The Show Report

“A unique and amazing production. One of the boldest portrayals of Lincoln and his Legacy.”- Michael Kenney, Nashville Universe

“The Lincolns of Springfield is precisely the Musical we need right now to remind us, in the words of America’s greatest President, that our country remains “The last best hope on Earth”; that “A house divided against itself cannot stand” and how we must work together to “Bind up the nation’s” so that Government “Of the people, by the people and for the people shall not perish from the Earth.”

I didn’t enjoy the show. Plot was uninspired as were projections for the set.

How did you like the event?

Although the production is a throw-back to 'speak then sing' musical conceptions, we found the show enjoyable - many great tunes (two-legged dear, union, etc.); much good talent. Would have liked to see more focus on/interest in Lincoln's years as a growing legal presence in Illinois leading to his Party's choice as presidential candidate. In other words, make the story more about the Lincoln's years in Springfield as the title suggests.

How did you like the event?

Started late but content and performance was fantastic. The speaker for the music didn't have much bass, but was adequate.

How did you like the event?

Cast was brilliant! The show has a lot of potential. Just needs fine tuning. A more professional sounding backtrack is a good start. The music is great, but loses some appeal when instrumentations clearly sound synthetic. There are professional mixes that can fix that easily. Of course a live orchestra is preferred, but there are ways of making backtracks sound live and give it the warmth a live orchestra. Overall a great night of theater.

How did you like the event?

We came unprepared for such a fabulous professional production. The play, the music, the performers were all outstanding. The only thing missing was a full house. Don't miss this production before it closes next week. When it's a big hit on Broadway you will be so glad you were one of the first to see it - not only see it, but see it up close and personal at Center Stage Theater.
