The Producing Unit presents
THE FATHER
Directed by Bill Egan

September 13-21, 2024

The Father, a gripping and emotionally intense play by Florian Zeller, delves into the complexities of dementia from the perspective of an elderly man named André. As André's world becomes increasingly disoriented and fragmented, the audience is taken on a powerful journey through the mind of someone struggling with this devastating condition.

The play masterfully portrays the confusion and heartbreak experienced by both André and his family, offering a poignant look at the impact of aging and memory loss. The play's rich themes and compelling narrative were brought to an even wider audience with the recent Academy Award Winning film adaptation.

How did you like the event?

Fine performances by all the actors, including those in smaller roles such as that by Matt Tavianni and Paris Khougaz and well directed by Bill Egan. Important topic presented with integrity and humor.

How did you like the event?

Beautiful play. Acting (especially by Tom Hinshaw) was superb and the concept/writing was intriguing and unusual. Having had experience with Alzheimer’s firsthand, we could not get over how well researched and poignantly portrayed this production was. Kudos!

How did you like the event?

Creating art from such a sad reality requires a lot of talent and creativity - it was there in full force! The lead actor was fantastic and I remain impressed by the talent of telling such a sad tale.

How did you like the event?

The Father is a powerful play that takes you on a sobering journey. Tom Hinshaw is masterful as Andre. It will take me quite a while to get this play out of my head. A must see and have some tissues with you.

How did you like the event?

Per usual, The Producing Unit delivered!!!! A devastating real play that delivers right smack dab in the face by a horrible disease that is so much more common than the public wants to look at. The Father allows audience members to understand the depth and pain associated with all involved.
