The Diary of Anne Frank

Event Flyer

In Wendy Kesselman’s transcendently powerful adaptation of the world’s most widely read diary, Anne Frank emerges from history a living, lyrical, intensely gifted young girl, who confronts her rapidly changing life and the increasing horror of her time with astonishing honesty, wit, and determination. An impassioned drama about the lives of eight people hiding from the Nazis in a concealed storage attic, THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK captures the claustrophobic realities of their daily existence—their fear, their hope, their laughter, their grief. Each day of these two dark years, Anne’s voice shines through: “When I write I shake off all my cares. But I want to achieve more than that. I want to be useful and bring enjoyment to all people, even those I’ve never met. I want to go on living even after my death!"

Very well done play, from the directing to the acting to the set design. Best play we have seen so far at LCCT! Sent a powerful message.

Absolutely stunning performance! The entire caste is amazing, and worked so well together that is was easy to imagine you were there with them. What a moving play! And the performance was, in my opinion, as good as any professional performance could be.

LCCT never fails to provide excellent productions and "The Diary of Anne Frank" was no exception. Cast was nothing short of perfection. Director, Norman Lewis, seems to excel at drawing out the best from each actor. Even the costumes! Overheard the group behind us speaking about the costumes. One lady said, "Look! The women are wearing hose that have a seam running the back of their legs, just like they wore in those days!"

Very moving, well-acted, effective and important play. Although all the actors were exceptional, Mia Berkson was outstanding in her portrayal of a role that ranged from care-free playful child to deeply perceptive young woman.

My friend and I were moved by the performance. I’ve read the book and watched the film presentation of this sad story. However, it was very emotional bei present while listening th all the sounds associated with the family’s situation, I cried. It was very moving. The set was done well too. Thank you for presenting this performance.

Lovely work and a total emotional explosion. As expected. PS: I think people on the wall seats on the left couldn't see the action in Anne's room and if you took down the coat hangers on the wall and put a mirror there, it would work. Might be too late for that though.

Extremely well done, soul stirring, and worth all 115 minutes! The young woman portraying Anne Frank is outstanding. I would encourage everyone to see this show to help them better understand how hate and fascism can permiate and subsequently destroy a society. A true and cautionary work with perfect timing. Thank you, LCCT.

A full house, but all eyes were on stage. The cast was prefect for their parts. I was very impressed at the use of costumes and their use to show progress of time. One thing that bothered me was the calendar on the wall. It never changed even though the months went by. A small thing I know.

Good acting. I knew the ending and yet the power of the play drew me in. I laughed at the personalities cooped up, and cried at their discovery by the Nazis. Powerful use of the screen to show authentic fascist visuals from the time period.

Norman did an incredible production, the history before and after the play truly helped get a gut wrenching insight. The sound effects were spot on. The cast, as always, was amazing - but the true star, was "Anne Frank". Her passion and understanding of that wretched piece of history was remarkable. Kudos all around - as always, LCCT never fails to entertain and educate.

The play "The Diary of Anne Frank" is a must see and feel for the contemporary political climate.  From the Director's Notes to the cast highlighted by the brilliant Mia Berkson (Anne Frank) this is Community Theatre at its best!  A lot goes into the production of each play.  Often it is behind the scenes, however, what happened on stages touched my core and teaches a lesson of love and compassion. Thanks to all to bring this t

One more thing: Anne's name is not Anna like it was pronounced in the play. The "e" at the end is like the German or Spanish "e", pronounced like "E" in Eric. Just a minor thing. I am German and lived through that period of time. The sirens brought back some very scary and gripping moments of my childhood. I am so glad that you are showing this at this time as history is about to repeat itself. I am bringing as many students and friends to see this as I can ga

Not that the acting wasn't stellar - it was and it was a big job to pull off this serious an endeavor. Acting was spot on - sets were some of the best to convey this particular message. A message that is timely and heartfelt. Does it serve a social need? Yes. So why only four (4) stars? Right now life is tough and musicals and light theatre helps knit the raveled sleeve of life... Maybe if I weren't reading Julius Cesar right now I would have a different frame of mind
