I'm writing to express serious dissatisfaction with conduct at a recent screening that was unprofessional, intellectually shallow, and frankly insulting to the audience. The presenter opened with a land acknowledgment, urging attendees to "learn about" Indigenous peoples. I'd take this more seriously if the people delivering these performative rituals were prepared to defend them intellectually.  I went to two Banff Film Festivals in the last 10 years in Sedona and San Diego. They were fabulous ! This one was quite a diversion from my every day seat in my kitchen doing business matters on my computer. I am glad 2027 has a place and date already so I could put a note on my Dec 2026 to mark March 12 - 14 on my 2027 calendar.
