Saltwater Hank & T. Buckley Trio

Event Flyer

In the first presentation of our 2023/2024 season, we're bringing you a night of Songs & Stories with some incredibly talented artists.

The night will begin with Tsimshian folk artist Saltwater Hank, a performer with natural comedic timing throughout his songwriting and his act, and through the many hours spent on all his chosen instruments as shown through his skillful delivery. Having relocated back to his home community of Kxeen (a.k.a. Prince Rupert, BC) before the pandemic, time away from the hustle of touring and other music industry pressures allowed Saltwater Hank to hold a newfound space for himself and his community. Immersing himself in his roots led to writing songs about his own experiences gathering food and spending time on the ocean, and the nearby Skeena River. He's also released four EPs since the beginning of 2020, all aptly named, "That's Not How Tommy Played It (Volumes 1 to 4)." Saltwater Hank has always been a storyteller, and he's embracing it now more than ever.

Our main act for the night will spotlight the T. Buckley Trio. Fronted by T. Buckley, who stands quietly among a disappearing ilk of tru craftsman, the band's arrangements of bluegrass and country roots perfectly fit the singer's well-crafted songs and unique interpretations of their musical influences. Shadowed by his Western roots, T. Buckley's soul and voice are unmistakably genuine, and the result of a class of songsmith long revered and scarcely achieved. Come see an artist that Grammy-nominated producer Howard Bilerman says is "cast from the same mold as Guy Clark, Townes van Zandt and Steve Earle."

In future please supply chairs/stools for performers to use or ‘just in case’ so none has to go sit on the stairs at the side. Also very important, provide a stool or whatever for singers to rest their water bottles on so they’re not having to bend over and place them on the floor over and over. PLEASE!
