"Based loosely on Puccini's La Boheme, Jonathan Larson's Rent follows a year in the life of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Lower East Side, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS. The physical and emotional complications of the disease pervade the lives of Roger, Mimi, Tom and Angel. Maureen deals with her chronic infidelity through performance art; her partner, Joanne, wonders if their relationship is worth the trouble. Benny has sold out his Bohemian ideals in exchange for a hefty income and is on the outs with his former friends. Mark, an aspiring filmmaker, feels like an outsider to life in general. How these young bohemians negotiate their dreams, loves and conflicts provides the narrative thread to this groundbreaking musical."

How did you like the event?

 Awful!!Left at intermission. Why? The actors were unbelievable and I couldn't understand most of the storyline. I'd like to understand and relate to the plot, not force myself to accept the chosen actors as sexy and/or talented! They were NOT. The audience didn't help -- felt forced not genuine. Overall, SLT productions should aim higher -- look for new talent, PLEASE!

How did you like the event?

 I went all 3 weekends because like the Director I have directed this before and was in it in when I was younger. The passion &talent of Tom Collins, Roger, Mimi, Maureen & Mark were some of the best I have ever seen on stage for a Community Theatre Version of RENT. The only reason I can't give it 5 starts is because of the sound. The second weekend was the best where I could hear everyone clear & their voices weren't hidden by the music the other 2 weekends were BAD.

 SLT did such a wonderful job on RENT. The singing was incredible and the performers really put all they had into this intense story. So happy to have seen this!

 I loved it. One of the best experiences I had in awhile. Sucks that the man next to me was not happy he came n complained the whole time. Huffing and puffing. Got a bit worse at the end but besides that the cast was absolutely amazing.

 Seasons of Love gave me goosebumps. Parts of the play were difficult to hear. The subject matter is so depressing. Several folks left at intermission.

 Phenomenal! I have been a huge Rent fan since the 90’s. This production was touching and full of talent and enthusiasm.

 Performance was very well done. Some of the audio units for the lesser characters was hard to hear. The theater was much too cold. We saw some of the older audience leaving at intermission because of the cold.

 I was so impressed by the level of talent of the cast. The set and costumes were great too. It was difficult to hear some cast members some of the time so that's something that could be improved but overall 10/10.

 The performances were great and actors were awesome, but the microphones need a LOT of work. I was in row C and could barely make out what was being sung.

 Actors were good. A little too much on the stripper outfits and mooning scene. The sound was rough this show. Could not hear much of the conversations on stage and some of the singing was covered up by loud instrumentals. Overall, the show was fine. Tom Collins actor has a wonderful and emotional singing voice, I was tearing up after hearing the pain in the voice during the Angel death scene. Please feature him more

How did you like the event?

 Thank you for holding space for such a beautiful story. I've watched many loved ones go too soon from this disease, be afraid of being themselves, and fight the battle of addiction. Thank you for putting your all into it; it felt wonderful being in the room with y'all. I've seen Rent on Broadway, and I think y'all had more passion. I sat in between a senior and a teenage girl and we all had the same reaction. Keep being exactly who you all are and cheers to La Vie Boheme!
