Join PASO at the beautiful Embassy of Austria for a concert of nuevo tangos by Astor Piazzolla. In 1983, Piazzolla performed in Vienna with his Quinteto and critics hailed it as one of the group’s best performances ever. The quintet played many of their standards, such as Adios Nonino and Libertango, but they also performed some “reinventions” of earlier Piazzolla themes, all with near perfection of harmony, melody, and edgy intensity. PASO performs many of these same Piazzolla compositions from that historic concert in Vienna, in addition to a tango written by an Austrian composer. With Javier Sanchez on bandoneón and Sean Mahon on piano, PASO opens its 2026 D.C. Tango Festival with this special event.
