Had I known that Tacoma Opera was going to put on a Lesbian opera I would NEVER have wasted the over $250.00 I spent taking my grandchildren to see it .The only redeeming feature of the opera's presentation was the beautiful ballet performed by Tacoma Ballet. By this orientation to lesbian opera you have shown your utter contempt for the religious belief's of those who treasure the Muslim, Jewish and Christian faiths. As

How did you like the event?

Like the inclusive nature of production that art is for everyone to tell their story. Execution was lacking.

WOW! Tacoma Opera does it again. That was one of the most memorable experiences of a performance. I am endlessly impressed with the focus being on the voices and music. What a cast!!! Composition is amplified when there aren't too many distractions. The staging was powerful and elevated the emotions. Incorporating the ballet was a first for me. Such a beautiful way to connect the story. Thoroughly enjoyed that. My live music quota is wonderfully overfilled! &

The only thing I don't understand it why the ending was changed, The story is a classic tragedy and would have preferred this part of the performance to respect and be true to the mythology. To have Euridice die, then come back to life, then die again, only to be redeemed by love was a bit too over-the-top on liberties taken to the story.

Competent but not memorable. Decision to make Orpheo female didn't affect music (role sung by women in past apparently) but left characters "off." Instead of yin-yang tension between a driven "man on a mission" and an "emotionally open female," we got muddled motivations making Orpheo opaque and Euridice bitchy and high maintenance--until the fine finale. Amore singer was great, but properly should've been Lesbia. Some voices overshadowed by orchestra. Ball

How did you like the event?

The singing and orchestra was dandy. When the ballet floated unto the stage my excitement grew. Those poor little girls were denied the opportunity to displayed their hard earned skills. The choreography seemed to written as a Monty Python skit. Line six girls on the stage and send a pouncing dancer across, now send two from the other side,… The dismall choreography distracted from my enjoyment of the event. We left at intermission.

How did you like the event?

Everything was totally gorgeous. The staging, what there was of the set (and it was very nicely minimalist that kept the focus on the performance), singing and dancing all wonderful. I brought a friend who has not been to the Opera in a long time and she totally enjoyed it & I expect will be back for more.

A delight to see Tacoma ballet join with opera for performance. I rarely get to ballet. Been decades. You have inspired me to attend sooner. I look forward to your next opera as well. I liked three primary singers all women. Took me a minute to get that Orfeo played by a women and their voices worked well together. I’m fairly new to opera. I look forward to seeing soprano who sang Euredice next year. enjoy the interludes of orchestra during stage changes.

How did you like the event?

Very enjoyable performance! I loved everything about it - the music, the singers (both solo and chorale), the costuming and the ballet were all wonderful. I would like to see another collaboration with Tacoma City Ballet.

Beautiful music and artists on stage. I thought a few of the sets were very minimal but despite that I still very much enjoyed the performance

How did you like the event?

The performance was beautiful. It may have been minimalist, but in the best sense. Costuming was not elaborate but the voices were a delight to the ear. Adding the ballet dance troupe was genius and really gave the opera a feeling of both grace and movement. I was very impressed with the performance and don't understand why anyone would take issue with both leads being female. Back in the day of Shakespeare, all actors were male. Quality over all.

How did you like the event?

I loved having the event co-performed by Tacoma Opera and Tacoma Ballet. I loved the woman Orfeo, and her singing was great! As a visual experience it could have been better: hand gestures seemed over-disciplined.
