Based on the real-life Newsboy Strike of 1899, this Disney musical tells the story of Jack Kelly, a rebellious newsboy who dreams of a life as an artist away from the big city. After publishing giant Joseph Pulitzer raises newspaper prices at the newsboys’ expense, Kelly and his fellow newsies take action. With help from the beautiful female reporter Katherine Plumber, all of New York City soon recognizes the power of “the little man.”

We take the health of our cast, staff and patrons very seriously. All involved must remain healthy for the show to go on.
Vaccinations are highly recommended but not required. However, the Playhouse and Limelight are public indoor spaces with patrons in close proximity to one another. SVCT requires, regardless of vaccination status, that all patrons must wear a mask inside the theater and theater lobby areas unless actively drinking or eating.
We count on our audience members to self-monitor. If you experience Covid-19 symptoms or receive a positive Covid-19 test, please alert our Box Office volunteers at [email protected] and/or call 408-842- 7469 at least three (3) hours before curtain so we can exchange your tickets.

     I have missed attending live theater, and I am delighted that SVCT is back. Newsies Jr. was, as promised, high energy and fun. The roles were well-cast, and the teens were enthusiastic and talented. The acoustics were good. I appreciated the reminder about wearing masks. I enjoy the outdoor "meet and greet" after the show, and was so happy to re-connect with one of my former students who was in the show.

    " Newsies Jr" was an amazing production. I went to opening night, and then again to the matinee on May 15th. I thought all involved with the production did a fantastic job! The set decorations, mobility of the scenes I thought flowed well. The actors on stage had great stage presence. They were insync with their characters they portrayed. The singing was amazing & their voices conveyed the strength Newsies needed to strike! We loved Les!!

   We thoroughly enjoyed this performance. The young actors and the singing and dancing were such a fun way to spend Mother’s day for this 76 year old! we live in San Jose but come to Morgan Hill for these plays and are never disappointed.

 "Newsies Jr" was very fun! The teens put a lot of energy into the performance, and it was clear to see they were enjoying themselves. The cast is very talented; it was great to hear them sing the show's hit songs, and the dance numbers showed a level of talent above and beyond what I had expected.

   The show was wonderful. The casting was perfect. Jack was so committed to the New York accent, and even continued it in song: The reporter, Bloom, had such a powerful voice. The dancing was great. I could not take my eyes off of one of the dancers. Her enthusiasm and joy was contagious. I enjoyed every moment. The show was well worth the price of the ticket. I would love to learn about future musical events.
