When 7-year-old Olive Hoover learns that she's qualified for the little Miss Sunshine contest the entire family sets off in their VW camper van for the trip from Albuquerque to California. The family includes her reasonably sane mother Sheryl; her father Richard, a motivational speaker who is stressing over whether his book will be published; her brother Dwayne who is into Nietzsche and has taken a vow of silence and hasn't said a word in 9 months; her grandpa Edwin Hoover who likes to cuss; and her uncle Frank Ginsburg - Sheryl's brother - who recently tried to commit suicide. Along the way, the van breaks down, Richard learns his book won't be published and they forget Olive at a gas station. They face grief along the way but they get Olive to the pageant on time - even if the pageant itself doesn't quite go as planned.

 There were a lot of really good things done with the show. Amanda has such a great voice, and was the part in the show. The rest of the cast did their parts and they all worked well together.

 This was such a cute show. We just loved the VW van and how it "ran". All performances were great. Brandon Brown is one of my favorite performers, he is so much fun to watch.

 Although the performance had to be rescheduled to Saturday, it was worth the wait. Fantastic cast; great singing and acting. The production was both hilarious and heartwarming. It put its own spin on the book from the film but kept the highlights and each actor captured their character well. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time! Great show and job well done to everyone, including the crew and designers. Wow!

 “Little Miss Sunshine” is a wildly, funny musical about a dysfunctional family’s road trip from Albuquerque to California. In her first lead role, fifth grader Kayla Bradford, exceeds expectations and rocks this role! She has a wonderful Broadway ping to her voice and is spot on with her singing. Kayla also has innate comedic timing, and her choreography is hilarious.
