When the world gives us lemons, we do better than lemonade

Event Flyer

DUE TO LINGERING EFFECTS OF COVID-19, WE ARE REGRETFULLY FORCED TO POSTPONE

OUR PRODUCTION OF THE LETTERS OF CHARLOTTE

However, at BARN OPERA, when the world gives us lemons, we do better than lemonade… we make LIMONCELLO!

The company that beat the odds and brought you “BARN OPERA: Under The Stars” at the height of the pandemic, is coming to you again, unstoppable and indefatigable, with a musical experience to delight, thrill, and start your holidays right! Headlined by our artistic dream team- Joshua Collier (Artistic Director), Cailin Marcel Manson (Music Director), and Nicholas Tocci (Associate Director), with the incredible Claire Black at the piano - you don't want to miss this concert of operatic, musical theatre, and holiday favorites!

Due to the lingering effects of the pandemic, we have been forced to postpone our production of The Letters of Charlotte until a later date in the winter/spring. However, the BARN OPERA creative team refuses to be knocked down, and is determined and committed to providing the Vermont community a great show at the BARN on the same weekend as The Letters of Charlotte was supposed to have occurred.

Tickets are available at www.barnopera.com/tickets, and anyone that has already purchased tickets for BARN OPERA’s The Letters of Charlotte would be welcome to save their tickets for the same production when it returns, in the same seat, in the same beautiful BARN - or use them for this LIMONCELLO production, and receive a $15 discount for tickets to The Letters of Charlotte in the future. Please email Executive Director, Tricia Welch at [email protected] with indication of your choice of ticket forwarding.

Performing Artist Information:

As all of the vocal performers are the creative team of BARN OPERA, their bios can be found easily at www.barnopera.com/artistic-team

Claire Black is an artist that has been noted as “a fine pianist with substantial, crystal-clear technique, plenty of power, yet with a sensitive musicality and a penchant for lyricism” (Jim Lowe, Times Argus). Ms. Black is an active performer of classical music both as a soloist and collaborator. Her passion for chamber music synergizes with abundant experience including many seasons of performance tours with the Stellaria Trio, Vermont Virtuosi, Cialde Quintet, and the Elegua Duo.

Though 2019 found Ms. Black in Spokane, WA where she served for a year on the faculty and as staff accompanist at Whitworth University, her musical life has been based in Burlington , VT for the better part of a decade. She has established herself as a go-to collaborative pianist for choirs, opera productions, and vocal and instrumental soloists - from prizewinning young artists to distinguished touring performers. Ms. Black’s collaborative roots can be traced to Baldwin Wallace University (BWU), where she kept an extensive roster of clients as a staff accompanist and coach. While at BWU, she also worked closely with soprano Jane Eaglen, who selected Ms. Black as pianist for her prestigious Wagner Intensive summer institute.

An avid educator, Ms. Black specializes in intermediate - and advanced-level instruction as she maintains a substantial private studio of young pianists. Past teaching engagements include positions at Middlebury Community Music Center, Oberlin Conservatory Community Music School, and the piano festival Summer Sonata.

Ms. Black trained with Dr. Robert Mayerovitch at BWU, and with Margarita Shevchencko at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she received her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees. Ms. Black is an alumna of the Tanglewood Institute, Eastern Music Festival, Brevard Music Center, and the Tuckamore Festival of St. Johns, Newfoundland.

Come celebrate the season with us, and help us turn an unfortunate situation into a

great holiday experience for you, our BARN OPERA Family!
