Austin has spent his entire life convinced that something terrible is bound to happen to him. One night, at a party, overlooking Boston harbor, he has the pleasure of rekindling a romance begun almost thirty years ago with Ruth. Now a multiple divorcee, Ruth’s personal life is in such turmoil that mutual friends look to Austin as Ruth’s last shot at normalcy. At the same time, these friends are hoping the wildly unpredictable Ruth will help loosen Austin from the grip of years of depression and lifelessness. Comically, and sometimes painfully, these two people rediscover each other and themselves while a bevy of free-spirited other guests rally behind them and remind them of the infinite possibilities that life holds, should one only choose to pursue them.

We try to accommodate all special seating requests, but the limitations of our small venue may not allow all requests to be fulfilled.

COVID-19 Precautions

South Valley Civic Theatre (SVCT) is taking precautions against Covid-19. We take the health of our cast, staff and patrons very seriously. All involved must remain healthy for the show to go on.
Vaccinations are highly recommended but not required. However, the Playhouse and Limelight are public indoor spaces with patrons in close proximity to one another. SVCT  does not require, however we strongly encourage our patrons, regardless of vaccination status, to wear a mask inside the theater and theater lobby areas unless actively drinking or eating.

We count on our audience members to self-monitor. If you experience Covid-19 symptoms or receive a positive Covid-19 test, please alert our Box Office volunteers at [email protected] and/or call 408-842-7469 at least three (3) hours before curtain so we can exchange your tickets.

SVCT will review its Covid-19 Statement for each of its shows to align with the State of California and Santa Clara County mandates and recommendations.  Thank you for your help and consideration!

   The band sounded better than opening night. And, that's to be expected. I went the second time to hear the understudy "V", who's a friend of my granddaughter, Elia. I told Elia I only had two criticisms about the performance and they both were not under the performer's control. First, some of the costumes were too large for her tiny frame. How did you like event?

   We took our seniors group to see this and everyone liked it. Left us thinking and we talked about it a few times days later. LOVED the set and the costumes! Some of our favorite actors (Roberta, Sandi and Bruce, --Jim was new to us) I really would have enjoyed seeing a second time...sorry I missed that opportunity. The Limelight is a special place.

How did you like event?

     I attend plays, and they are generally comedies, but I really enjoy dramatic plays with actors that make me feel connected to the story on many levels. Last night was a pleasure. The actors brought so much to the play, I lost myself in the story. That is difficult to manage. The actors, the sets, and the pace were excellent. I enjoyed it very much. I thought it was classy as well.
