Nine years after the Alcan Theatre burned to the ground in 1983, The Phoenix Theatre opened its doors and exhibited its first two feature films for the community; Beauty and the Beast & Hook. 30 years later, The Phoenix Theatre is equipped with one of the most technologically advanced drive-ins in Western Canada thanks to grant funding from Northern Development Initiative Trust.
