Great Ghost Hunt at the Granger House

with Riverside Iowa Paranormal

Event Flyer
The Granger House, built in 1860 by Charles Myers, is the only restored middle-class home in the Cedar Rapids area.  Even more unique is that it still contains many of the original furnishings.

Earl Granger purchased the house in 1876.  In 1879 Earl built the carriage house, which is the only one of its kind in the Midwest.  A year later he built an add on to the main house.  The house ultimately remained in his family until 1973.

The Grangers were one of the first families to settle in Marion, Iowa, and were very well-loved by the community.  Earl was a large cattle farmer and made a living selling meat to the railroad.  Earl’s wife Dora was of German descent and was considered a very kind and generous woman.  She was even known to feed the “tramps” that came through.  It is believed that Dora suffered from heavy depression due to the death of 4 of her 7 children.

The Granger house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

The granger house is rich with paranormal activity.  Past investigators have experienced the following:
     •Spirits of past inhabitants
•Communication with 2 of Dora and Earl’s children that lived to adulthood.
     •Dora heard speaking German
     •Hearing footsteps
•Running up and down the steps
     •Playing and running around upstairs
     •Girl singing
     •Kids peeking around corners
•Communication with a gentleman who inhabits the carriage house.
     •Much, much more.
