Festo! Festo! is a monthly Klezmer, Balkan, and World music concert and community jam session. This month’s Festo Festo will be held at The Velvet Elk Lounge in Boulder, CO. 

This month's Festo! Festo! features guest band We Could be Gyros. 

James Hoskins has been playing Greek music for 30 years. His love of the bouzouki began about a dozen years ago when he was handed a baglama (mini bouzouki) at Balkan Camp in the Mendocino redwoods to play Rembetiko - songs of pain, passion, love, and hardship from 30’s Greece through present day. He has expanded his use of the bouzouki to include improvisation and his original compositions.
“We Could Be Gyros” is a new band that showcases the bouzouki in these different styles. It consists of James Hoskins (bouzouki/vocals); Jesse Manno (bouzouki, bass, baglama, vocals) and Julie Lancaster (accordion/vocals) - both, as well as James, veterans of local Boulder/Denver bands “Sherefe” and “Barbelfish”; Ken Matarazzo (frame drums, riq, cajon) - ex. Cameron Powers Project and longtime student of Glen Velez; and Glenda Luck (guitar/vocals), co-founder of the Highland Rembetiko Club. We Could Be Gyros is pleased to have their inaugural performance at Festo Festo - a truly wonderful local community-based monthly event!

Gora Gora Orkestar will be the house band for the evening. Join us before the show for a Community Jam! All instruments are welcome.

The sliding scale pricing model allows the JCC Denver to offer programming that is accessible to anyone regardless of their access to wealth. Everyone deserves to be able to participate! Participants are asked to be honest in evaluating their own circumstances and self-selecting the pricing tier that is right for them. In short, you should select a pricing tier based on the simplified criteria below.
