Dead Man's Cell Phone

Event Flyer

An incessantly ringing cell phone in a quiet café. A stranger at the next table who has had enough. And a dead man – with a lot of loose ends. So begins Dead Man’s Cell Phone, a wildly imaginative new comedy by MacArthur “Genius” Grant recipient and Pulitzer Prize finalist Sarah Ruhl. A work about how we memorialize the dead – and how that remembering changes us – it is the odyssey of a woman forced to confront her own assumptions about morality, redemption, and the need to connect in a technologically obsessed world.

How did you like the event?

This was truly one of my favorites. It is an creative indictment about where we are as a population of humans who have come to rely on cell phones--and wonder what has happened to our "relationships." I would have gone to see it a second time if I could.

How did you like the event?

Great cast. Fantastic quirky show. I loved the introduction by the director which brought great context to the show and was beautifully delivered. I had no issue with the language or talk of sex; I do remember reading it was a show for adults. I highly recommend.

How did you like the event?

Loved this play, the acting and the Edward Hopper atmosphere of the play. Play’s central theme very timely with the loneliness and disconnection that exists despite the fact that we seem to be attached to our phones with an umbilical cord.

How did you like the event?

While the actors gave a good performance, I can't say that the story was great. UNNECESSARY NEGATIVE REFERENCES TO CATHOLICISM AND WAY TOO MUCH FOUL LANGUAGE WERE NOT APPRECIATED!!! I definitely would not spend the money to attend another play by this playwright.

How did you like the event?

The acting was great but the show itself was not my favorite. It was a good message but too conceptual. My husband did not like it at all. He said it was confusing and weird.

How did you like the event?

Terrible, didn't like the bad language in part of the play and then the part where Gordon's wife was talking about their sex life was uncomfortable. It should have been noted the play was recommended for adults only. A grandpa sitting in front of us apologized to his teen grandson about that. However Rob B. did an awesome job on his character again.

Interesting story...very entertaining and incredibly well done! Never stop being impressed with the quality of the performance from the Kettle Moraine Playhouse and its actors/actresses!

How did you like the event?

We enjoyed our evening. Was looking forward to having a glass of wine. Maybe they could offer those little bottles in the future. Overall it was a 6 out of 10. Parts of the play were too “schmaltzy”

How did you like the event?

As always, the actors did a fine job. The play seemed lacking--hard to find a point to it. We enjoyed the theater experience but did not care for the play itself.
