Bad Women

An installation Inspired by the book ‘The Five’ by Hallie Rubenhol

Event Flyer

Inspired by the book ‘The Five’ written by social historian Hallie Rubenhold the Installation ‘Bad Women’ is a collection of creative responses that look to explain why these women’s hopes and dreams never materialised. The work of the students explores the sad societal truth that some people’s lives were and are often viewed as more important than others. Questioning why the newspapers were eager to scandalise and fabricate truth. How all of these women ended up destitute in one of London’s worst slum areas and addressing the social policies that resulted in these women living precarious and harsh lives. Finally asking how much has changed and what lessons have been learnt?

The installation is not suitable for children under the age of 16 due to the following sensitive topics:

  • Suicide
  • Prostitution
  • Alcoholism
