Some buildings remember everything. Established in 1886 by Lyman Sleeper, the Sleeper Mortuary served its community through tragedy, loss, fire, and generations of change. After surviving two devastating fires, one in 1902 and another in 1915th, the mortuary rose again, continuing operations through multiple owners, name changes, and nearly a century of service to the dead and the living. By the time its doors closed for good in 1999, more than 2,600 families had entrusted their final goodbyes to this building.

After its closure, the structure passed through many hands, housing students, shops, flea markets, and offices; yet somehow, the entire first floor remained frozen in time, untouched in its original funeral home layout. In 2025, the building found new life once more when it was purchased with the sole purpose of preserving its history, its artifacts, and its stories, not as a business, but as a living record of those who passed through its doors. Now, for one intense night, you are invited inside.

This event is a special collaboration between Rob Walczak of Ghost Gear Tech and Kris Smith of Get Haunted Midwest, combining cutting-edge paranormal technology with professional investigative guiding.

This is not a haunted house.
This is a real paranormal investigation experience.

Together, our teams will guide you through:

• The history of Sleeper Mortuary

• Three full floors of active investigation space

• Multiple methods of spirit communication using modern and traditional techniques

While we cannot promise a paranormal experience, we promise a real experience in the paranormal.

This is NOT part of the GET HAUNTED MIDWEST: SEASON ONE STORYLINE.

Event Format

This event runs 6 PM to Midnight and includes:

• Guided investigation of all three floors with both teams

• Instruction, history, and active communication sessions

• Then, at the end of the night, guests will be released for solo investigation time, allowing you to apply what you’ve learned on your own

Important Policies

• Age Requirement: 18+ only

• Zero Tolerance Policy: Aggressive behavior, disrespect toward guests, staff, or the property, drug or alcohol use, or provoking other guests will result in immediate removal without refund

• This is a real investigation,  no paranormal activity is guaranteed

• Events operate rain or shine

• All ticket sales are final and non-refundable
