The Old Blackford County Jail Paranormal Experience

Stone walls. Iron bars. Locked doors that once kept men from the outside world and sometimes from their own fate. The Old Blackford County Jail, established in 1879, stood in active service for more than 116 years, housing criminals, suspects, sheriffs, and even their families within its walls.

Hartford City itself rose from humble beginnings in the late 1830s, exploding into a booming industrial town after the discovery of natural gas in the 1880s. With rapid growth came crime, desperation, and consequence—and the jail became the silent witness to it all.

Legends of former sheriffs, inmates, and even rumored stays by John Dillinger echo through this building’s long history. Today, the jail remains in remarkably good condition, still containing one of the last functioning cast iron turnstiles leading into the cell block. Restoration is ongoing—but the past has never left.

Now, for one chilling night, those cell doors open again… for you.

You Are the Investigator

This is not a haunted house. This is a real paranormal investigation event.

At Get Haunted Midwest, you become the investigator. Our team will guide you through rotating investigation sessions where you’ll learn:

• The true history of the jail

• How to use real paranormal investigation equipment

• How to attempt communication with whatever may still remain

Season One Begins Here

This event officially launches Season One of our investigative storyline, exploring the origins of the spiritual movement. Along with modern investigative tools, one special session will focus on early spiritualist communication methods used before today’s technology existed.

Three Ways to Experience the Old Blackford County Jail

$75 – Guided Paranormal Session | 18+ Only

7 PM – Midnight
Join our main guided investigation as you rotate with our team through multiple areas of the jail using different communication methods.

$99 – Guided Session + Solo Exploration | 18+ Only

7 PM – 2 AM
After the guided sessions, the brave will be released at midnight to investigate the jail completely on their own using the techniques and equipment they’ve learned.

$125 – Full Lockdown Overnight Experience | 21+ Only

7 PM – 9 AM
The ultimate jailhouse challenge:

• Full guided investigation

• Solo exploration

• Then attempt to sleep inside the historic jail

🛌 Beds provided (bring sleeping bag & pillow)
👥 Shared sleeping room (one guest per bed)
🥐 Light breakfast provided in the morning—if you make it through the night

• Age Requirements:

  • Guided & Solo Experiences: 18+ only

  • Full Lockdown Overnight: 21+ only

• Zero Tolerance Policy: Aggressive behavior, disrespect toward guests, staff, or the property, drug or alcohol use, or provoking other guests will result in immediate removal without refund

• This is a real paranormal investigation, not a haunted attraction

• No paranormal activity is guaranteed

• Events operate rain or shine

• All ticket sales are final and non-refundable
